Scents of Purpose
Go behind the scent and learn about the inspiration for our very first fragrances with their creator, LAFCO New York founder and perfumer Jon Bresler.
“When having guests for dinner, scented candles should complement the food, not interfere with it. I created Celery Thyme with these occasions in mind. The candle is housed in a neutral white vessel and features fresh, aromatic notes of celery seed, crushed thyme, and purple basil, all of which help to stimulate the olfactory system and cleanse the palate.”
“Marine was inspired by the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. It’s a combination of all the mesmerizing sights, sounds, and indelible aromas that rushed my senses that day, from the stunning sapphire-blue water and crisp, salty sea air to the distinctively rocky Mediterranean shoreline. I added a soft jasmine note to reveal the delicate scent of ocean botanicals present in the warm sea water.”
Feu de Bois
Feu de Bois is my all - time favorite fragrance. It’s packed with memories from all around the world. On my first trip to Europe , I was walking through a chateau in the French countryside when the most remarkable aroma from a 500 - year - old fireplace stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t the smell of a burning fire, but rather the extraordinarily fine aroma of centuries of burnt wood resins. That’s when t h e seed for what has become o ur most popular fragrance was planted.
After all the years I spent in Europe learning about aromatherapy and natural perfumery, I put that knowledge to use in creating Rosemary Eucalyptus for those workaholics like me. Housed in a vibrant , energetic green vessel , the fragrance combin es natural eucalyptus and fresh rosemary oils that help to calm and clear my mind while giving me a much - needed boost of energy to power through the rest of the day.
“One of my favorite things to do on a cold day is curl up with a good book on the sofa in my den. I wanted to capture that cozy feeling in a fragrance – a warm, redwood-paneled den. The natural Virginia cedar resin at its heart is smooth and dry with a creamy-woody aroma that gets drier and sweeter as the candle burns.”
I have always loved the sweet smell of fresh cut hay. It’s soothing and relaxing. I learned while studying natural perfumery that its aroma induces a sense of calm. That’s what inspired me to create Chamomile Lavender, a fragrance that evokes a place of tranquility and well - being. The foundation notes of chamomile and lavender – the quintessential aromatherapy oils – produce the aroma of fresh cut hay and I add ed hints of smoky patchouli and honey to ground the fragrance.
